I'll be posting updated mockups and screen shots here as we continue to work. So keep checking back to see where we are with the game.

Here are some updated mockups for each of the games various styles of gameplay. This game is going to be a huge improvement over the first and will include not only the regular platforming levels we all love but will also include side scrolling shooter style levels as well as some swimming levels. Each will have it's own unique physics and gameplay.

Okay. So as some of you may know by now if you have been following the shoutbox posts, the game is now being made in ChromaDepth 3-D. That completely changes the look and feel of the game. It also brings it back to how the series was meant to be done. I though that making it in full color would make it more accessible to more people but I kept getting pulled back to the idea of making it in 3-D. I am VERY happy with how it is coming along now that we have changed it.

Here are some in-game screen shots from the current demo being put together and that will be posted within the next day or two. (I am currently waiting to hear back about getting permission to use the ChromaDepth logo as a splash screen at the start of the game.)

Been working on some new tiles as well as a new HUD. I have posted a small walkthrough style demo for people to check out. There's nothing really to do in the demo. It is meant to just show what some of the different levels will look like and to show off the new changes.

Started working on the villagers that will populate the towns and I decided to make some improvements to Kroma. I doubled the number of frames for his walking animation so he is much smoother now.

Here is a small update for everyone to check out and give feedback on. I am creating new ground tiles to give the levels a little bit more depth. The old tiles from the first game were not very good looking and felt very flat. So let me know what you guys think of the new style.

It's been ages since I have posted any updates to this game here and I apologize for that. Real life has been keeping me busy but that hasn't stopped me from working on the game when I can. There have been some major changes to it since I last posted. I have been working on cleaning up the graphics and giving it a much more polished look. I removed most of the dithering and that made a HUGE difference in how the game looks and feels. I have also decided to make the game using Construct 2 instead of Stencyl like I have been. I have just been running into too many issues and I need something that will allow me to publish to more platforms. Construct 2 will allow me to do that plus it is much more stable.

Now for a peek at what how the game is looking now.


Here's the current tile set for the volcano levels. As you can see, the colors for Kroma have changed and I have been working on some mini boss characters.


Here's a mockup of the coastal levels. The water in the background has been created using multiple layers that creates a nice parallax effect. You can also see some of the other mini boss characters. These three are brothers and will appear throughout the game to break things up a bit. You can also see how much cleaner the graphics look without all of the dithering.


Next up are a few screenshots from a test level I had created in Stencyl for the space levels. These are a bit old now and need more work but I thought I would still share them anyway.







And here's a peek at what the flying stages are evolving into. There's really not much to look at right now but you can see how I altered the tree line. I originally had the dinosaurs on the ground just out in front of everything but now I have created a foreground layer that will partially hide those characters. It also gives me a better way to give the appearance of speed while making the ground characters move slower.





That's about all I have for updates at the moment. Work still continues for the swimming stages but there really isn't anything to show right now. Let me know what you guys think about the new look and direction of the game.
